Although education and sharing of information can go a long way to influence the choices and behaviour of energy consumers, market imperfections and unfair trade practices have the potential of tilting the scale in favour of inefficient energy consuming appliances. One of the areas of focus in the Foundation’s activities to address this issue of market imperfection is in policy advocacy.
The Foundation has developed working relationships with the various stakeholder organizations in the energy sector and parliament. Members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, Finance, Trade & Industry and Environment are constantly kept informed of the activities and programmes of the Foundation through formal and informal briefings and workshops to better enable them provide support for energy efficiency initiatives that will require Parliamentary assent.
