The Energy Foundation has completed many energy efficiency projects on its own and has collaborated with international institutions to design and implement market transformation, energy and poverty related research, educational and awareness creation activities, in Ghana. The Energy Foundation used to be the implementing agency for the Ministry of Energy’s energy efficiency programmes from 1998 to 2010.
The EF has been in existence since November 1997 and has completed process of implementing a number of projects aimed at capacity building, market transformation, policy advocacy and awareness creation, demonstration and research. Our activities have been funded by international institutions such as the World Bank, the UK Department for International Development (DFID), DANIDA, and the United Nations Department for Economic Social Affairs, UN Foundation, USAID and from internally generated funds.
The EF works closely with a network of over 30 engineering service companies who are members of the Ghana Association of Energy Service Companies and Consultants (GHAESCO) an organization, whose establishment the Energy Foundation facilitated, to bring all energy service professionals together for an effective capacity building and quality energy service to Ghanaian enterprises.
The EF has a well-equipped office located in Accra and has a fleet of vehicles for fieldwork. Since its establishment, the Energy Foundation has proved the viability and effectiveness of joint public-private sector cooperation in the energy sector, which has been demonstrated by the public trust, and cooperation, which was completely absent in the pre-1997 era when government was promoting energy efficiency.
